Walk to Work Week
|The final scores are in! Our staff enjoyed walking to work, and as anticipated, the competition for first place was intensely fought for between Gordon and Philip, with Gordon coming out as the champion! |
Here is the experience of one of our staff members, Sophie Holmes, Services Coordinator:
“Inspired by Laura’s recent article about Walk to Work Week, I thought that I would also share my experiences of the week. It was the first time that I have participated in the event, so I was excited about the week ahead. I was not disappointed! The weather was excellent all week so Hereford’s Southside was looking very scenic on my walks in to work or to town. I really made the most of it.
I regularly walk to work anyway, however, the requirement to log how far I had been walking made me more aware of how much walking I do and the environmental and health benefits.
It was always fascinating logging the miles on the website and watching the figures increase. Competition between staff became apparent through bold emails, particularly between the CEO and Community Manager, but despite the banter, neither of them actually logged their miles until Wednesday! They still managed to come in first and second place.
I had to seek clarification on how to take a welfie, but once I had understood, there were so many opportunities to be creative, I must admit, it was quite fun!”
Deaf Direct held fifth place nationally for a while but settled in to 12th place as other companies started to log their miles for the week.
