Walk to Work Week, 12th to 16th May 2014
|Last week saw some staff members from Deaf Direct ditch their cars and take part in Walk to Work Week! This was a national campaign to get people in better shape, to blow the cobwebs away and relieve stress, to save on travel fare, to reduce our carbon footprint, and to make new discoveries in our local area.
Deaf Direct clocked up a total of 87 miles! That’s the equivalent of burning off 16 muffins at 8,483 calories, and saved the same amount of carbon dioxide as replacing 15 60W light bulbs with energy-efficient equivalents over the week! Special mentions go to Claire Mallindine who walked 15.5 miles and Jane Abbey who walked 13.02 miles. Philip Gerrard walked 30.54 miles and was top walker in the Worcester postcode area! Deaf Direct finished 324th of 1200 companies who took part! Great work!
Nationally, 5 million calories were burned off and enough miles walked to go around the equator twice!
