Training
Deaf Direct has a small but dedicated training team offering a wide range of specialist deaf awareness and British Sign Language training.
British Sign Language (BSL) is the natural language of the Deaf Community in Britain. It is quite different from spoken English and was recognised as a language in its own right in 2003 having its own grammatical structure and syntax. Over 70,000 Deaf people use it as their preferred language.
We offer accredited courses in:
As well as the above we offer intensive Level 1 courses and mini 'taster' courses for professionals. Training can be held in-house, at a venue of your choice or at our training centre. These sessions can be attended by up to 20 people and a certificate of attendance is always issued.
