‘Safe Space’ – Revisiting BSL
Date: Saturday 22nd October 2016
Time: 10am to 4pm
Price: £ 80
When did you last look at your BSL production and analyse it for clarity? Are you using placement effectively? Is your reference really 3D? Do you look ‘Deaf’ when you sign? Could your interpretation be more native?
The latest workshop in our ‘Safe Space’ series looks at our use of these foundation stones of BSL – placement, referencing and visualisation. It is all too easy to fall into habits in our BSL production that are not visual, and obscure clarity. Joe Collins, experienced trainer, translator and native BSL user will help us explore the use of visualisation and these fundamental BSL skills to improve our sign production – and therefore our interpretations. Learn to see the world more visually and present it more clearly to our Deaf audiences.
Our Safe Space workshops aim to provide an opportunity for Interpreters to develop their skills in a supportive, peer-led learning environment. Learn from prepared resources, gain CPD points whilst providing a whole load of wonderful networking and peer support time!
