Running for money
|As you may have noticed over the past year I have slowly been changing shape; creating a whole new me! April last year I began a journey that was to change my life, for the better. I joined a local slimming world group and after some weight loss, I joined and regularly attended my local gym. Then, in August, my husband and I decided to learn to run. We started with a running programme on our mobile called “Couch to 5k”, this teaches you to run from a sitting on the couch, having never exercised, to being able to run 5k. We completed this in nine weeks and then ran our first Parkrun (5km timed run) on Halloween which we completed (but thought we were going to pass out at the end!).
We have continued to run and have attended different coaching sessions and have become hooked. We have now completed two 10k races: the Great Birmingham Run 10k, and a local charity run for Bloodwise – where we even made it in to the Bromsgrove Advertiser!
My husband and I have now entered the Birmingham half marathon in October (gulp), and also want to raise money for Deaf Direct. I have created a fundraising page MyDonate, so if you would like to support us and our wonderful charity it would be really appreciated (Please remember to click to add gift aid if you do; as Deaf Direct can claim the tax back from the donation, adding extra money to the collection) .
