Outreach Team – Manual Handling Training
|The outreach team has been busy again. This time they have been receiving training on manual handling. This involved using a hoist, helping someone out of a chair, out of a bed and the usual heavy lifting of boxes etc. The newest member of the team, Matthew Shaw volunteered to be hoisted which provided everyone with much amusement!
Clancy then offered to be helped out of bed, claiming she was very tired (!)- However the experience didn’t turn out to be quite as relaxing as she had hoped!
The team had to work together to consider how to lift a heavy object safely when one (or both) colleagues were deaf. With the hands otherwise occupied lifting the object, the team had to find alternative ways to communicate when to lift or if there was a nearby hazard.
Overall the staff had an enjoyable day learning how to safely support clients and lift heavy objects.
