Older People’s Day 2014
|This week, Older People’s Day was celebrated in the UK on Wednesday 1st October, at the same time as the International Day of Older Persons. The day sets out to highlight the contribution and achievements older people make to our society and the economy, and to start to tackle negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes.
Various activities were held across the UK, aiming to promote healthy life styles, provide opportunities to combat loneliness, encourage volunteering, and sharing skills with different generations. After all, everyone is an older person to someone!
At Deaf Direct, we are doing just that, and not just on Older People’s Day! Check out the other posts this week to see what’s going on and how you could get involved.
