Hearing Loop Awareness Week
|Hearing Loop Awareness Week, organised by Hearing Link runs from Monday 2nd November 2015 until Sunday 8th November 2015 and aims to involve many different providers of equipment and hearing services. According to Action on Hearing Loss, the week will “run in tandem with our ‘Let’s Loop the UK.’” The aim of this week is to raise awareness of the various loop systems available and aims to help to improve the access to loop and hearing systems in public places.
Hearing Link have said that “We need volunteers to check on the availability and condition of hearing loops in shops, banks, churches, railway stations, libraries in their local neighbourhood for a couple of hours during Hearing Loop Awareness Week. We will provide a simple checklist, ID badges, and resources to help. You’ll be able to download them from our website nearer the time.
The results will be compiled, mapped and published providing a true picture of loops in the UK. Hearing Link will use this information to improve service provision in local communities.”
Deaf Direct are supporting this event in all three of our locations; Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Oxfordshire, with equipment demonstrations and talks about the benefits of a loop system taking place in our social group in Hereford this Wednesday. The social group is a monthly event for anyone with a hearing loss and is a perfect opportunity to interact and socialise with those other people who have a hearing loss. People have also said that the group is a great way to come along and learn new things.
