Hearing Dogs for Deaf People are Collecting Stamps
|Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a national charity and centre of excellence in training hearing dogs to alert deaf people to everyday household sounds and danger signals in the home, work place and in public buildings. They are collecting stamps in an effort to raise funds for their charity.
There is a lot of interest in used stamps from artists and collectors and the British stamps are particularly popular because of their variety. When your stamps reach the sorting house they are weighed and priced by the kilogram. Before this they have to be sorted and excess paper is removed. This has to happen because the extra paper will lower the value of the batch. This is why we ask that 1 cm is left around the stamp and not still attached to the envelope. So far in 2015, from donations of used stamps, supporters have raised £9710.84.
Deaf Direct is now collecting used stamps for Hearing dogs for the deaf at the Worcester and Hereford offices. If you have any lying around at home please bring them in and we will send them off for you.
