Deaf Awareness session for GP surgeries in Worcestershire, and Deaf Direct works with new freelance tutor
By Anita Lowe, Training Coordinator and Interpreter
The Training Department is full of thanks and congratulations. We were delighted to work with Henry Skinner, a freelance tutor who delivered a Deaf Awareness session for us on Tuesday 3rd February. Henry is greatly experienced and we hope to work more with him in future. We would also like to congratulate Haresfield House Surgery in Worcester, who booked the session. They demonstrated excellent partnership working by coordinating with other surgeries within the CCG to share the costs and send representatives to benefit from the session. In addition to Haresfield House, we were pleased to see representatives from St Martin’s Gate Surgery, Severn Valley Medical Practice, Upton Surgery, Ombersley Medical Centre, Albany House Surgery and Barn Close Surgery in Broadway. Certificates of attendance are on the way to all of the attendees.
Well done Training Department for this excellent news! It is great to see so many surgeries in Worcestershire receiving Deaf Awareness training, and supporting the message from our Access Denied event to improve access for Deaf people to health and social services in the area.
