Service Quality

Deaf Direct only uses interpreters and communication professionals registered with the National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD).

NRCPD registered communication professionals have all achieved recognised qualifications in their discipline and work to strict professional codes of practice. Registration is the only guarantee that providers of communication services have achieved safe-to-practice standards. It gives recourse to comprehensive complaints procedures from both Deaf Direct and also the registering body; it ensures current enhanced CRB disclosures are held and that appropriate professional indemnity insurance is in place. Registered professionals adhere to a Code of Conduct and act impartially and professionally at all times.

In addition to this, Deaf Direct staff also have regular appraisals and reviews and our work is monitored closely. We have systems in place to ensure quality feedback is solicited from our clients and we use this to inform the ongoing professional development programs for our staff. Our feedback mechanisms are more comprehensive and user-led than the majority of other interpreting service providers in this country. We also have Investors in People (IIP) and other quality assurance kitemarks to demonstrate our commitment to employee excellence. All resources are reinvested in service delivery for the deaf and hard of hearing communities we serve.
